Amidst the general calamities of the earth God's kingdom shall be set up with glory. Isaiah 24 Preface - Christ is our advocate with the Father, and a propitiation for the sins of the whole world. Rightly to know God is to keep his commandments: the chief of which is to love one another. The apostle addresseth Christians of various ages separately, and warneth them against an inordinate love of this world: and against deceivers, who were many. He sheweth the means they had of knowing the truth, and of distinguishing false teachers; and pointeth out their obligation to abide in the truth which they had been taught. He that doeth righteousness is born of God. 1 John 2 Daily Light - Morning Thou shalt put the two stones upon the shoulders of the ephod for stones of memorial unto the children of Israel: and Aaron shall bear their names before the LORD. But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. - Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Seeing...that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touhed with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace. The beloved of the LORD shall dwell in safety by him; and the LORD shall cover him all the day long, and he shall dwell between his shoulders. Ex. 28.12; He. 7.24-25; Jude 24 He. 4.14-16 Deu.33.12 Daily Light - Evening On that night could not the king sleep. Thou holdest mine eyes waking. - Who is like unto the LORD our God...who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth! He doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth. - Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known. - Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain. The eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. - We know that all things work together for good to them that love God. Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. The 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith Of Christ the Mediator Chapter 8 PARAGRAPH 3 The Lord Jesus, in His human nature thus united to the divine, in the person of the Son, was sanctified and anointed with the Holy Spirit above measure,13 having in Him all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge;14 in whom it pleased the Father that all fullness should dwell,15 to the end that being holy, harmless, undefiled,16 and full of grace and truth,17 He might be throughly furnished to execute the office of mediator and surety;18 which office He took not upon himself, but was thereunto called by His Father;19 who also put all power and judgement in His hand, and gave Him commandment to execute the same.20 13 Ps. 45:7; Acts 10:38; John 3:34 14 Col. 2:3 15 Col. 1:19 16 Heb. 7:26 17 John 1:14 18 Heb. 7:22 19 Heb. 5:5 20 John 5:22,27; Matt. 28:18; Acts 2:36 Robert Murray M'Cheyne - God Makes A Path - Daily Devotional Readings Open reward But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: that thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. - Matthew 6 vs 3 & 4. If you give, hoping for something again, you will get nothing. You must give as a Christian gives, - cheerfully, liberally, and freely, hoping for nothing again; and then God will give you back good measure, pressed down. 'Give, and it shall be given you.'
