Song of Solomon 7 Preface - Christ a priest after the order of Melchisedec, is provided to be of a more excellent order than that of Aaron, from the character of Melchisedec, and his confessed superiority to Abraham and Levi; from the imperfection of the Levitical priesthood, which induced the necessity of a change to one more perfect; from the confirmation of Christ's priesthood by an oath; from the unchangeableness, and spotless innocence, of the person. Hebrews 7 Daily Light - Morning Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not. Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. - Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. - My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. - Am I a God at hand saith the LORD, and not a God afar off? Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall nto see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD. Behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded? - Thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the countrite ones. - Ye are the temple of the living God. Ge. 28.16; Mt. 18.20; Mt. 28.20; Ex. 33.14 Ps. 139.7-8; Jer. 23.23-24 1 Ki. 8.27; Isa. 57.15 2 Co. 6.16 Daily Light - Evening Keep yourselves from idols. My son, give me thine heart. - Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them? - Mortify...your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry. - They that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare... For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But thou, O man of God, flee these things. If riches increase, set not your heart upon them. - My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver. Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. - The LORD looketh on the heart. 1 Jn. 5.21; Pro. 23.26; Col. 3.2 Ezek. 14.3; Col. 3.5; 1 Tim. 6.9-11 Ps. 62.10; Pro. 8.19 Mt. 6.21; 1 Sa. 16.7 A Puritans Catechism Q 55 - Which is the sixth commandment? A - The sixth commandment is, Thou shalt not kill. The 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith Of God' Decree Chapter 3 PARAGRAPH 7 The doctrine of the high mystery of predestination is to be handled with special prudence and care, that men attending the will of God revealed in His Word, and yielding obedience thereunto, may, from the certainty of their effectual vocation, be assured of their eternal election;18 so shall this doctrine afford matter of praise,19 reverence, and admiration of God, and of humility,20 diligence, and abundant consolation to all that sincerely obey the gospel.21 18 1 Thess. 1:4–5; 2 Pet. 1:10 19 Eph. 1:6; Rom. 11:33 20 Rom. 11:5–6, 20 21 Luke 10:20 Robert Murray M'Cheyne - God Makes A Path - Daily Devotional Readings Satan keeps me from it But when the comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: - John 15 v 26 I ought to study the Comforter more - His Godhead, His love, His almightiness. I have found by experience that nothing sanctifies me so much as mediatating on the Comforter, as John 14 v 16 'And I will pray the Father, and he shall give me another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;' And yet how seldom I do this! Satan keeps me from it. I am often like those men who said, They knew not if there be any Holy Ghost...I ought never to forget that my body is dwelt in by the Third Person of the Godhead. The very thought of this should make me tremble to sin, 1 Corinthians 6 v 19...I ought never forget that sin grieves the Holy Spirit - vexes and quenches him...If I would be filled with the Spirit, I feel I must read the Bible mrore, pray more, and watch more.
