Prayer
-Give thanks to God for the Bible, its inspiration and preservation for us to read it today. (2 Timothy 3.16, Proverbs 30.5.)
-Give thanks to God that we have easy access to the Scripture in English, in our mother tongue.
-Pray the Lord would bless us as we study the Bible through the ministry this coming year. That as we work through a book of the Bible the Lord would continue to help us to grasp God's truth.
-Pray for the Lunchtime outreach service and those who attend; pray that more from the offices nearby and Christians who commute are able to join us.

Preface - Manasseh's wicked reign and great idolatry. Prophecies uttered against Judah because of his wickedness. He dieth: Amon succeedeth him. Amon's wicked reign. He is slain by a conspiracy of his servants; the people slay the murderers, and make Josiah king. Amon's acts and burial.
2 Kings 21
Preface - Christ is shewed to be more worthy than Moses: we must be careful therefore not to follow the example of the obstinate and unbelieving Israelites in the wilderness.
Hebrews 3

Daily Light - Morning
Let us, who are of the day, be sober,
putting on the breastplate of faith and love;
and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

Gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. - Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness... Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it. And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
1 Th. 5.8; 1 Pe. 1.13; Eph. 6.14,16-17
Isa. 25.8-9
He. 11.1

Daily Light - Evening
The children of Israel pitched before them
like two little flocks of kids;
but the Syrians filled the country.

Thus saith the LORD, Because the Syrians have said, The LORD is God of the hills, but he is not God of the valleys, therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I am the LORD. And they pitched one over against the other seven days. And so it was, that in the seventh day the battle was joined: and the children of Israel slew of the Syrians an hundred thousand footmen in one day. - Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

They shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee.
1 Ki. 20.27; 1 Ki. 20.28-29; ! jn. 4.4
Isa. 41.10
Jer. 1.19

A Puritans Catechism

Q49 - Which is the fourth commandment?
A - The fourth commandment is Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nr thy manservent, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Of The Holy Scriptures

Chapter 1 - Paragraph 8
The Old Testament in Hebrew (which was the native language of the people of God of old). 14) and the New Testament in Greek (which at the time of the writing of it was most generally known to the nations), being immediately inspired by God, and by His singular care and providence kept pure in all ages, are therefore authentic; so as in all controversies of religion, the church is finally to appeal to them. 15) But because these original languages are not known to all the people of God, who have a right unto, and interest in the Scriptures, and are commanded in the fear of God to read, 16) and search them, 17) therefore they are to be translated into the common language of every nation unto which they come, 18) that the Word of God dwelling richly in all, they may worship Him in an acceptable manner, and through patience and comfort of the Scriptures may have hope. 19)
14) 2 Rom. 3:2 15) Isa. 8:20 16) Acts 15:15 17) John 5:39 18 1 Cor. 14:6,9,11-12,24,28 19) Col. 3:16

Only believe
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose - Romans 8 v 28

You remember Jacob said, when they wanted to take Benjamin away from him, 'All these things are against me.' But in a little while he saw that 'all these things were working together for good to him.' In a little while all his lost children were restored to him, and he and his seed preserved from famine. So will it be with you. If at any time unbelief steals over your heart - if you lose sight of Jesus, our Passover sacrificed for us - if you forget the hand of the all-tender gracious Father of Jesus and of your soul - you will be crying out, all these things are against me. But ah! how soon you will find that everything in your history, except sin, has been for you. Every wave of trouble has been wafting you to the sunny shores of a sinless eternity. Only believe. Give unlimited credit to our God.
