Prayer
-Give thanks to God for the Bible, its inspiration and preservation for us to read it today. (2 Timothy 3.16, Proverbs 30.5.)
-Give thanks to God that we have easy access to the Scripture in English, in our mother tongue.
-Pray the Lord would bless us as we study the bible through the ministry this coming year. That as we work through a book of the Bible the Lord would continue to help us to grasp God's truth.
-Pray for the Lunchtime outreach service and those who attend; pray that more from the offices nearby and Christians who commute are able to join us.

Daily readings
Preface - The Philistines fight against Keilah; David, enquiring of the Lord by Abiathar, smiteth them, and saveth Keilah. Saul purposeth to besiege him at Kellah. God sheweth him of Saul's coming and the treachery of th eKeilites. He escapeth to Ziph, whither Jonathan cometh and comforteth him. The Ziphites discover him to Saul, who pursueth him closely in Maon, but is called off by an invasion of the Philistines. David dwelleth at En-gedi.
1 Samuel 23
Preface - Paul declareth his unwearied zeal and integrity in preaching the gospel; so that if any see not the truth of it, it must be owing to their corrupt hearts, not to want of clear light. The weakness and sufferings he was exposed to redounded to the praise of God's power. That which animated him in undergoing them for the Church's sake was the assurance fo a more exceeding and eternal reward.
1 Corinthians 4

A Puritans Catechism
Q62 - What is required in the ninth commandment?

A - The ninth commandment requires the maintaining and promoting of truth between man and man, and of our own and our neighbour's good name, especially in witness-bearing.

Robert Murray M'Cheyne - God Makes A Path - Daily Devotional Readings
Lovest thou me more than these
So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yes, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. - John 21 v 15

Take heed what you love. Love what Jesus loved. Love not the world. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Love not money; it is the root of all evil. Love Jesus. Forgiven much, love much. Love God; He is worthy of all the love. Love the brethren; make them the chosen friends of your soul.
