Daily Readings

Preface - Elimelech driven by famine into Moab dieth there, as do also his sons Mahlon and Chilion, who had married Moabitish wives. Naomi the wife of Elimelech prepareth to return, but dissuadeth her daughters in law from going with her; of whom Orpah leaveth her, but Ruth with great constancy accompanieth her. They two come to Bethlehem, where the inhabitants flock around with enquiries concerning them.
Ruth 1
Preface - Paul in the presence of Agrippa declareth his life from his childhood, his wonderful conversion, and call to the apostleship, his wonderful conversion, and call to the apostleship, and his preaching of Christ according to the scripture doctrine. Festus chargeth him with madness, his modest reply, and address to Agrippa, who confesseth himself almost a Christian. The whole company pronounce him innocent.
Acts 26

Puritans Catechism
Q41 - What is the sum of the ten commandments?
A - The sum of the ten commandments is to love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul with all our strength, and with all our mind; and our neighbour as ourselves.

The Pilgrim's staff
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Hebrews 13 v 5.
There is no time when you may be more inclined to think God has forsaken you, than when sin and Satan are raging. There is a difference from sin raging and sin reigning, though the soul may not see it. In such a time remember these words - 'I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.' In a time of temptation, the believer should remember this promise. Jacob rested on it; Solomon rested on it: yea, it is a staff which has been leaned on by many believers, and you may lean on it too.
