He encourageth him with assurances of divine and human assistance. 1 Chronicles 28 Preface - The apostle foretelleth the appearance of false teachers, the impiety of them and their followers, and the judgments that would overtake them. Peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come. - The peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. - Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. The Comforter...even the Spirit of truth. - The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace. - The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God. My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence. For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? Is it not in that thou goest with us? 2 Th. 3.16; Rev. 1.4; Phil. 4.7 Lu. 24.36; Jn. 14.27 Jn. 15.26; Ga. 5.22; Ro. 8.16 Ex. 33.14-16 Daily Light - Evening We glory in tribulations. They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me. Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: but rejoice,, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. - Sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing. Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. - They departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. The God of hope fill you will all joy and peace in believing. Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. BAPTIST CONFESSION OF FAITH Of Divine Providence Chapter 5 PARAGRAPH 5 The most wise, righteous, and gracious God does often times leave for a season His own children to manifold temptations and the corruptions of their own hearts, to chastise them for their former sins, or to discover unto them the hidden strength of corruption and deceitfulness of their hearts, that they may be humbled; and to raise them to a more close and constant dependence for their support upon Himself; and to make them more watchful against all future occasions of sin, and for other just and holy ends.15 So that whatsoever befalls any of His elect is by His appointment, for His glory, and their good.16 15 2 Chron. 32:25–26,31; 2 Cor. 12:7-9 16 Rom. 8:28 Robert Murray M'Cheyne - God Makes A Path - Daily Devotional Readings A whole Saviour And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the comin gof our Lord Jesus Christ. - 1 Thessalonians 5 v 23 Learn the certainty of sanctification. Rutherford said, 'Blessed be God, Christ is a whole Saviour - He not only justifies, but He sanctifies too.' Oh, no, He will not lose the end for which He died - to make you not of this world, while you are in the world. He came to this miserable world, and took stones to polish for His Father's palace. Do you ever think He will leave you unholy? This is the will of the Father, even your sanctification. Jesus died, and the Spirit is sent as the sanctifier. There is much sin between you and God - many temptations - yet you shall be made holy.
