Daily Prayer - Wednesday
- Give thank to God for the Bible its inspiration and preservation for us to read it today. (2 Timothy 3.16, Proverbs 30.5.) - Give thanks to God that we have easy access to the Scripture in English, in our mother tongue. - Pray the Lord would bless us as we study the Bible through the ministry this coming year. That as we work through a book of the Bible the Lord would continue to help us to grasp God's truth. - Pray for the Lunchtime outreach service and those who attend; pray that more from the offices nearby and Christians who commute are able to join us. The fall of the profane prince of Israel, and of his kingdom for a time. The destruction of the Ammonites. Ezekiel 21 Preface - A prayer at the removing of the ark. An exhortation to praise God for his mercies, for his former care of the church, and daily providence over it. The church hath confidence in his future protection. The magnificent pomp of bringing up the ark. A prayer for the confirmation of God's goodness to his church. An exhortation to all kingdoms to praise the God of Israel. Psalms 68 Daily Light - Morning Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures. - It is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. - I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. - We have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. - How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand. - O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?... For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen. The well of him that called, or, cried] If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. - If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink... (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive.) Prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. - If ye...being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? - Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find. Because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. - Ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Isaiah 53 v 5 The wounds of Christ were the greatest outlets of His glory that ever were. The divine glory shone more out of His wounds than out of all His life before. The veil was then rent in twain, and the full heart of God allowed to stream through. It was a human body that writhed, pale and racked, upon the accursed tree, they were human hands that were pierced so rudely by the nails; it was human flesh that bore that deadly gash upon the side; it was human blood that streamed from hands, and feet, and side; the eye that meekly turned to His Father was a human eye; the soul that yearned over His mother was a human soul. But oh, there was divine glory streaming through all! every wound was a mouth to speak of the grace and love of God!
