The 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith Of the Lord's Supper Chapter 30 PARAGRAPH 6 That doctrine which maintains a change of the substance of bread and wine, into the substance of Christ's body and blood, commonly called transubstantiation, by consecration of a priest, or by any other way, is repugnant not to Scripture alone,9 but even to common sense and reason, overthrows the nature of the ordinance, and has been, and is, the cause of manifold superstitions, yea, of gross idolatries.10 9 Acts 3:21; Luke 14:6,39 10 1 Cor. 11:24–25 Robert Murray M'Cheyne - God Makes A Path - Daily Devotional Readings A Covenant God God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1 v 9 Look around you. The world lying in wickedness is against you. 'I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves.' O look down to hell; there are crafty devils - mighty spirits of evil, all, all against you. How then, should we hope such things from you? Ah! God is faithful, who also will do it. I lean my back upon the Rock of Ages, and I feel there is enough in Him to enable me to stand against all the world. If you are joined to Christ, God is for you; God the Father is a shield all around you; God the Holy Ghost is within you. If you are joined to Christ, then God is a Covenant God to you.
