Daily Prayer - Wednesday
- Give thank to God for the Bible its inspiration and preservation for us to read it today. (2 Timothy 3.16, Proverbs 30.5.) - Give thanks to God that we have easy access to the Scripture in English, in our mother tongue. - Pray the Lord would bless us as we study the Bible through the ministry this coming year. That as we work through a book of the Bible the Lord would continue to help us to grasp God's truth. - Pray for the Lunchtime outreach service and those who attend; pray that more from the offices nearby and Christians who commute are able to join us. By the king of Babylon's order the master of the eunuchs taketh Daniel, Hananiel, Mishael, and Azariah, to instruct them, and changeth their names: they refusing to eat of the king's meat thrive upon pulse and water: their proficiency in wisdom. Daniel 1 Preface - An exhortation to praise God, to seek him, and remember his works. His providence over Abraham, over Joseph, over Israel in Egypt, which he plagued for their sake; and over his people brought out of Egypt, fed in the wilderness, and planted in Canaan. Psalms 105 Daily Light - Morning Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord. Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. - Whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. - Whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord. I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. - Wist ye not that I must be about mu Father's business? - The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up. Brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall. - We desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: that ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. - So run, that ye may obtain. He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: but every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. - Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where...even as the garden of the LORD... Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan... But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly. - [God] delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked... The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations. - Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand. The 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith Of Creation Chapter 4 PARAGRAPH 3 Besides the law written in their hearts, they received a command not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil,9 which while they kept, they were happy in their communion with God, and had dominion over the creatures.10 9 Gen. 2:17 10 Gen. 1:26,28 Robert Murray M'Cheyne - God Makes A Path - Daily Devotional Readings Reflect His image He that shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? Micah 6 v 8 God requires His redeemed ones to be holy. - If you are His brethren, He will have you righteous, holy men. First, He requires you to do justly - to be just in your dealings between man and man. This is one of His own glorious features. He is a just God. 'Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?' 'He is my ROck, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.' Are you come to Him by Jesus? - He requires you to reflect His image. Are you His child? - you must be like Him. O brethren, be exact in your dealings. Be like your God. Take care of dishonesty; take care of trickery in business. Take care of crying up your goods when selling them, and crying them down when buying them. 'It is nought, it is nought, sayeth the buyer, but when he is gone his way, he boasteth.' It shall not be so among you. God requires you to do justly.
