Daily Reading Plan - First Year
Preface - The rebellion of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. Moses opposeth it. He sendeth for Dathan and Abiram, who refuse to come. Korah and his company bring incense before the Lord. Moses separateth the people from the tents of the rebels, and denounceth their judgment . The earth swalloweth up some, a fire consumeth the rest. The censers are reserved to holy use. The people murmur. God's anger is kindled. Aaron by Moses' direction stayeth the plague, in which fourteen thousand and seven hundred perished.
Numbers 16
Psalms 52) Preface - David reproving the spiteful malice of Doeg, prophesieth his destruction. The righteous shall rejoice at it. David in confidence of God's mercy giveth him thanks.
Psalms 53) Preface - David describeth the general corruption of mankind. He wisheth to see the salvation of God.
Psalms 54) Preface - David complaining of the Ziphims prayeth for salvation: in confidence of God's help he promiseth sacrifice and praise.

Psalms 52-54

Daily Light - Morning
Take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or,
What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be
clothed?....for your heavenly Father knoweth
that ye have need of all these things.

O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing. - No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

I would have you without carefulness. - Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. - Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? - Have faith in God.
Mt. 6.31,32; Ps. 34.9-10; Ps. 84.11-12
1 Co. 7.32; Phil. 4.6
Mt. 10.29-31; Mk. 4.40; Mk. 11.22

Daily Light - Evening
He spread a cloud for a covering;
and fire to give light in the night.

Like as a father pittieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night - There shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.

The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.... The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. - The LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: he took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
Ps. 105.39; Ps. 103.13-14
Ps. 121.6; Isa. 4.6
Ps. 121.5,8; Ex. 13.21-22
He. 13.8

A - The covenant being made with Adam, not only for himself, but for his posterity; all mankind, descending from him by ordinary generation, sinned in him, and fell with him, in his first transgression.

Chapter 14
PARAGRAPH 1

The grace of faith, whereby the elect are enabled to believe to the saving of their souls, is the work of the Spirit of Christ in their hearts,  (1)  and is ordinarily wrought by the ministry of the Word;  (2)  by which also, and by the administration of baptism and the Lord's supper, prayer, and other means appointed of God, it is increased and strengthened.  (3)
(1)-2 Cor. 4.13; Eph. 2.8  (2)-Rom. 10.14,17  (3)-Luke 17.5; 1 Pet. 2.2; Acts 20.32

Preparation
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6 v 33

Are you fitter for heaven every day? Ah! my dear Christians, I tremble for some of you who are on your way to glory. Oh! that you would forget the things that are behind, and reaching forth to those that are before, press forward toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Some of you are just beginning the journey to Heaven. Pray more, read more, hear more, love more, do more every day.
