Daily Prayer - Wednesday
Wednesday
- Give thank to God for the Bible its inspiration and preservation for us to read it today. (2 Timothy 3.16, Proverbs 30.5.)
- Give thanks to God that we have easy access to the Scripture in English, in our mother tongue.
- Pray the Lord would bless us as we study the Bible through the ministry this coming year. That as we work through a book of the Bible the Lord would        continue to help us to grasp God's truth.
- Pray for the Lunchtime outreach service and those who attend; pray that more from the offices nearby and Christians who commute are able to join us.

Daily Reading Plan - First Year
Preface - Israel serveth the Philistines forty years. An angel appeareth to Manoah's wife, who was barren, and telleth her that she shall bear a son. She informeth her husband of it. At Manoah's prayer the angel appeareth to him, and instructeth him what they must do. Manoah's sacrifice, whereby the angel is discovered. Samson is born.
Judges 13
Preface - Paul preaching in the synagogue at Thessalonica, some believe, both Jews and Greeks. The unbelieving Jews raise an uproar. Paul and Silas are sent to Berea: the Berean Jews are commended for searching the scriptures. The Jews of Thessalonica follow and drive Paul from Berea. At Athens Paul disputing is carried before the court of Areopagus: he preaching the living God, to the Athenians unknown; his general call to repentance; the resurrection of Christ; and his coming to judgment. Some, mock, others believe.
Acts 17

Daily Light - Morning
Seek those things which are above,
where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

Get wisdom, get understanding.  - The wisdom that is from above. - The depth saith, It is not in me: and the sea saith, It is not with me. - We are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.

Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. - But God....hath quickened us together with Christ....and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

They that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. - Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness.
Col. 3.1; Pro. 4.5; Jas. 3.17; Job 28.14; Ro. 6.4-5
He. 12.1; Eph. 2.4,5,6
He. 11.14; Zeph. 2.3

Daily Light - Evening
Nicodemus....
(he that came to Jesus by night).

Peter followed him afar off. - Among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. - The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. - A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench. - Faith as a grain of mustard seed.

God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord. - Little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. - Whosoever....shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
Jn. 7.50; Mt. 26.58; Jn. 12.42-43; Pro. 29.25
Jn. 6.37; Isa. 42.3; Mt. 17.20
2 Tim. 1.7-8; 1 Jn. 2.28; Mt. 10.32

Of Lawful Oaths and Vows
Chapter 23
PARAGRAPH 2

The name of God only is that by which men ought to swear; and therein it is to be used, with all holy fear and reverence; therefore to swear vainly or rashly by that glorious and dreadful name, or to swear at all by any other thing, is sinful, and to be abhorred;  (3)  yet as in matter of weight and moment, for confirmation of truth, and ending all strife, an oath is warranted by the word of God;  (4)  so a lawful oath being imposed by lawful authority in such matters, ought to be taken.  (5)
(3)-Matt. 5.34,37; James 5.12  (4)-Heb.6.16; 2 C0r.1.23  (5)-Neh.13.25

Robert Murray M'Cheyne - God Makes A Path - Daily Devotional Readings
An abundant entrance
He that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
Galatians 6 v 8

The whole Bible shows that Christians will be rewarded in eternity just in proportion to the way they have made use of their talents. Now, money is one talent. If you use it right, you will in no wise lose your reward. They that have done much for Christ shall have an abundant entrance; they that have done little shall have little reward.
