Daily Prayer - Wednesday
Wednesday
- Give thank to God for the Bible its inspiration and preservation for us to read it today. (2 Timothy 3.16, Proverbs 30.5.)
- Give thanks to God that we have easy access to the Scripture in English, in our mother tongue.
- Pray the Lord would bless us as we study the Bible through the ministry this coming year. That as we work through a book of the Bible the Lord would        continue to help us to grasp God's truth.
- Pray for the Lunchtime outreach service and those who attend; pray that more from the offices nearby and Christians who commute are able to join us.

Daily Reading Plan - First Year
Preface - The Israelites for their sin are oppressed by Midian. They cry to God; a prophet is sent to reprove them. An angel sendeth Gideon to deliver them. Gideon asketh a sign; he bringeth flesh, broth, and bread, to the angel, which are all miraculously consumed with fire. Gideon destroyeth Ball's altar and grove, and sacrificeth upon an altar which he built unto the Lord. The men of his city require him to be put to death; his father defendeth him, and giveth him the name of Jerubbaal. Gideon gathereth an army to fight the Midianites. The double sign granted according to his prayer.
Judges 6
Preface - Cornelius, a devout centurion, being commanded by an angel, sendeth for Peter; who in the meantime is prepared by an heavenly vision: and, receiving a command from the Spirit, goeth with the messengers to Caesarea. Cornelius receiveth him with great respect, and sheweth the occasion of his sending for him. Peter preacheth Christ to him and his company: the Holy Ghost falleth on them, whereupon they are baptized.
Acts 10

Daily Light - Morning
Then cometh the end.

Of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. 'Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.... And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch. - The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. - The coming of the Lord draweth nigh.... The judge standeth before the door. - Surely I come quickly.

Seeing....that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy coversation and godliness?

The end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. - Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; and ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.
1 Co. 15.24; Mk. 13.32-33,37; 2 Pe. 3.9; Jas. 5.8,9; Rev. 22.20
2 Pe. 3.11
1 Pe. 4.7; Lu. 12.35-36

Daily Light - Evening
Brethren, pray for us.

Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him.... And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up.... Pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

Without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers. - Always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.
1 Th. 5.25; Jas. 5.14,15,16-18
Eph. 6.18
Ro. 1.9; Col. 4.12

Chapter 23
PARAGRAPH 2

The name of God only is that by which men ought to swear; and therein it is to be used, with all holy fear and reverence; therefore to swear vainly or rashly by that glorious and dreadful name, or to swear at all by any other thing, is sinful, and to be abhorred;  (3)  yet as in matter of weight and moment, for confirmation of truth, and ending all strife, an oath is warranted by the word of God;  (4)  so a lawful oath being imposed by lawful authority in such matters, ought to be taken.  (5)
(3)-Matt. 5.34,37; James 5.12  (4)-Heb.6.16; 2 C0r.1.23  (5)-Neh.13.25

Robert Murray M'Cheyne - God Makes A Path - Daily Devotional Readings
Good news
For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
2 Corinthians 8 v 9

Corinth was one of the most wicked cities that ever was on the face of the world. It lay between two seas; so that luxury came flowing in from the east and from the west. These Corinthians had been saved from the deepest abominations, as you learn from 1 Corinthians 6 v 11: 'Such were some of you', and yet it was for the sake of such that the Lord of glory became poor - 'For your sakes.' In like manner, Paul writing to the Romans, says: 'When we were without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly' (5:6). Ah! see what names are here given to those for whom Christ died: without strength - unable to believe, or to think a right thought; ungodly - living as if there were no God; sinners - breaking God's holy law; enemies - hating and opposing a holy God of love.
Oh, brethren! this is good news for the most wicked of men. Are there some of you who feel that you are like a beast before God, or all over sin. like a devil? Some of you have lived in the abominations of Corinth. Some of you are like the Romans - without strength, ungodly, sinners, enemies; yet for your sakes Christ became poor: He left glory for souls as vile as you. He left the songs of angels, the love of his Father, and the glories of heaven for just such wretches as you and me. He died for the ungodly. So not be afraid, sinners, to lay hold upon him. It was for your sakes he came. He will not, he cannot cast you out.
