Daily Prayer - Wednesday
- Give thank to God for the Bible its inspiration and preservation for us to read it today. (2 Timothy 3.16, Proverbs 30.5.)
- Give thanks to God that we have easy access to the Scripture in English, in our mother tongue.
- Pray the Lord would bless us as we study the Bible through the ministry this coming year. That as we work through a book of the Bible the Lord would        continue to help us to grasp God's truth.
- Pray for the Lunchtime outreach service and those who attend; pray that more from the offices nearby and Christians who commute are able to join us.

Daily Light - Morning
Holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.

Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. - There shall in no wise enter into it nay thing that defileth. - there is no spot in thee.

Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy. - As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: but as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear. - Put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and...put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. - He hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before  him in love.
He. 12.14; Jn. 3.3; Rev. 21.27; Song 4.7
Lev. 19.2; 1 Pe. 1.14-17; Eph. 4.22-24; Eph. 1.4

Daily Light - Evening
Gold tried in the fire.

There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sister, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's but he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

Belove, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as thou some strange thing happened unto you. - Now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.

The God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. - In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Rev. 3.18; Mk. 10.29-30
1 Pe. 4.12; 1 Pe. 1.6-7
1 Pe. 5.10; Jn. 16.33

A Puritans Catechism

Q 20 - Who is the Redeemer of God's elect?
A - The only Redeemer of God's elect is the Lord Jesus Christ, who, being the eternal Son of God became man, and so was, and continues to be God and man, in two distinct natures and one person, forever.

The 1689
Baptist Confession of Faith
Of Sanctification
Chapter 13
PARAGRAPH 2

This sanctification is throughout the whole man, yet imperfect in this life; there abideth still some remnants of corruption in every part, whence ariseth a continual and irreconcilable war; the flesh lusting against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh.
  1. 1 Thessalonians 5:23
  2. Romans 7:18,23
  3. Galatians 5:17
  4. 1 Peter 2:11

Robert Murray M'Cheyne - God Makes A Path - Daily Devotional Readings
A vale of tears
Surely it is meet to be said unto God, I have borne chastisement, I will not offend any more: That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more - Job 34 vs 31-32

This world is a world of trouble: 'Man that is born of woman, is of few days, and full of trouble.' 'We dwell in cottages of clay, our foundation is in the dust, we are crushed before the moth,' (Job 4 v 19). This world has sometimes been called 'a vale of tears.' Trials come into all your dwellings; the children of God are not excepted; there is a need be that you be in many temptations. 'Count it not strange when you fall into divers temptations, as though some strange thing happened unto you.' If this be so, of how great importance is it, that you and I be prepared to meet it. The darkest thunder cloud only covers the heavens for a time. 'Surely it is meet to be said unto God, I have borne chastisement. I will not offend any more: that which I see not, teach thou me; if I have done iniquity, I will do no more.
