Daily Reading Plan - First Year
Preface - The people murmur at the news. Joshua and Caleb labour to pacify them. Moses intercedeth with God, and obtaineth pardon; but the murmurers are excluded from entering into the promised land. The men who raised the evil report concerning the land die by a plague. The people, that against the will of God would invade the land, are smitten by the inhabitants of it.
Numbers 14
Preface - The majesty of God in the church: his command to gather his saints. God delighteth not in sacrifice, but in a pious heart. The hypocrite rebuked: salvation promised to the upright.
Psalms 50

Daily Light - Morning
Mercy and truth are met together;
righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

A just God and a Saviour.

The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.

God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them. - Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; to declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. - He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. - Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. - To him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
Ps. 85.10; Isa. 45.21
Isa. 42.21
2 Co. 5.19; Ro. 3.25-26; Isa. 53.5; Ro. 8.33; Ro. 4.5

Daily Light - Evening
How are the dead raised up?
and with what body do they come?

Beloved now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. - As we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of heavenly.

The Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. - He was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: after that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once.

If the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
1 Co. 15.35; 1 Jn. 3.2; 1 Co. 15.49
Phil. 3.20-21
Lu. 24.36-37; 1 Co. 15.5-6
Ro. 8.11

A Puritans Catechism
Q 13 - Did our first parents continue in the estate wherein they were created?

A - Our first parents, being left to the freedom of their own will, fell from that initial state wherein they were created, by sinning against God, by eating the forbidden fruit.

The 1689
Baptist Confession of Faith
Of Sanctification
Chapter 13
PARAGRAPH 2

This sanctification is throughout the Whole man,  (7)  yet imperfect in this life; there abides still some remnants of corruption in every part,  (8)  wherefrom arises a continual and irreconcilable war; the flesh lusting against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh.  (9)
(7)-1 Thess. 5.23  (8)-Rom. 7.18.23  (9)-Gal. 5.17; 1 Pet. 2.11

Robert Murray M'Cheyne - God Makes A Path - Daily Devotional Readings
Heaven's greatest wonder
Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
John 10 vs 17-18

The death of Christ is, my friends, the most wonderful event past, present, or future in the whole universe. It is so in the eye of God - 'Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life.' There is nothing in the whole world so lovely as His Son. It is not only for His Godhead, but on account of his manhood, through which He laid down His life - 'Therefore doth my Father love me, because I laid down my life.' These words of Christ, 'I lay down my life,' are dearer to God than a thousand worlds.
