Daily Reading Plan - First Year
Preface - The Israelites encamp in the plains of Moab. Balak's first message for Balaam is refused. His second message prevaileth. An angel opposeth Balaam on the way; his ass seeth the angel, and endeavoureth to avoid him; Balaam smitteth the ass; God openeth the ass's mouth; the angel reproveth Balaam, but suffereth him to proceed on his journey. Balak goeth out to meet him.
Numbers 22
62) Preface - David professing his confidence in God discourageth his enemies. In the same confidence he encourageth the godly. No trust is to be put in worldly things. Power and mercy belong to God.
63) Preface - David's thirst after God's service in his sanctuary: his manner of blessing God: his confidence of the destruction of his enemies, and of his own rejoicing.

Psalms 62-63

Daily Light - Morning
Pray every where, lifting up holy hands,
without wrath and doubting.

The true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. - Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am, - When ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any.

Without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. - Let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the LORD.

If I regard iniquity in my heart, the LORD will not hear me. - My little children, these things writ I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: and he is the propitiation for our sins.
1 Tim. 2.8; Jn. 4.23-24; Isa. 58.9, Mk. 11.25
He. 11.6; Jas. 1.6-7
Ps. 66.18; 1 Jn. 2.1-2

Daily Light - Evening
How are the dead raised up?
and with what body do they come?

Beloved now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. - As we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of heavenly.

The Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. - He was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: after that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once.

If the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
1 Co. 15.35; 1 Jn. 3.2; 1 Co. 15.49
Phil. 3.20-21
Lu. 24.36-37; 1 Co. 15.5-6
Ro. 8.11

A Puritans Catechism
Q 20 - Who is the Redeemer of God's elect?

A - The only Redeemer of God's elect is the Lord Jesus Christ, who, being the eternal Son of God became man, and so was, and continues to be God and man, in two distinct natures and one person, forever.

Chapter 15
PARAGRAPH 3

This saving repentance is an evangelical grace,  (4)  whereby a person, being by the Holy Spirit made sensible of the manifold evils of his sin, does, by faith in Christ, humble himself for it with godly sorrow, detestation of it, and self-abhorrence,  (5)  praying for pardon and strength of grace, with a purpose and endeavor, by supplies of the Spirit, to walk before God unto all well-pleasing in all things.  (6)
(4)-Zech. 12.10; Acts 11.18  (5)-Ezek. 36.31; 2 Cor. 7.11  (6)-Ps.119.6,128

Higher upon the rock
From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is highter than I.
Psalm 61 v 2

Every wave of trouble for Christ's sake lifts the soul higher upon the Rock. Every arrow of bitterness shot after the believer makes him hide father back in the clefts of Jesus. Be content dear friend, to bear these trouble which make you cling closer to your beloved.
