Daily Reading Plan - First Year
Preface - The people bewail the desolation of Benjamin, and seek to repair it. By the destruction of Jabesh-gilead they provide wives for four hundred of those who had taken shelter in the rock. The elders consult how to find wives for the remainder consistently with an oath that had been taken, and advise the Benjamites to carry off by surprise the virgins that danced at Shiloh.
Judges 21
Preface - The Jews accuse Paul to Festus, first at Jerusalem, and afterward at Caesarea: he answereth for himself, and appealeth to Caesar: his apeal is admitted. Fetus being visited by king Agrippa openeth the matter to him, who desireth to hear Paul. Paul is brought forth; Fetus declareth he found nothing in him worthy of death.
Acts 25

Daily Light - Morning
The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost.
Whom the Father will send in my name.

If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink: thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. - If ye....being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? - Verily, verily, I say unto you. Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. - Ye have not, because ye ask not.

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

They rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.
Jn. 14.26; Jn. 4.10; Lu. 11.13; Jn. 16.23-24; Jas. 4.2
Jn. 16.13-14
Isa. 63.10

Daily Light - Evening
What think ye of Christ?

Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. - He hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

Unto you....which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner. - Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; but unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ. - Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee.
Mt. 22.42; Ps. 24.9-10; Rev. 19.16
1 Pe. 2.7; 1 Co. 1.23-24
Phil. 3.8; Jn. 21.17

Baptist Confession of Faith
Of the Holy Scriptures

PARAGRAPH 7

All things in Scripture are not alike plain in themselves, nor alike clear unto all; (12)  yet those things which are necessary to be known, believed and observed for salvation, are so clearly propounded and opened in some place of Scripture or other, that not only the learned, but the unlearned, in a due use of ordinary means, may attain to a sufficient understanding of them. (13)
12 2 Pet. 3:16
13 Ps. 19:7; Psalm 119:130

Patient submission
Submit yourselves therefore to God, Resist the devil,
and he will flee from you.
James 4 v 7

Resignation is a very sweet grace: it can only be cultivated here. The believer has two kinds of graces - he has purity and resignation; God has purity, but God can have no resignation, for He has all sovereignty, He is almighty. Yet resignation to God's will is a very sweet grace; it is a flower that grows on the earth - it will not bloom yonder. It is much easier to go about a whole lifetime preaching, to preach night and day, than to be patient under sickness. There are many saints who suffered much upon earth, now shining the brightest in glory, just because they glorified God more than others by their patient submission.
