Daily Light - Morning
Let us labour therefore to enter into the rest.

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction...strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. - The kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. - Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you. - Give diligence to make your calling and election sure...for so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  -  So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an icorruptible.

For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works as God did from his. - The LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.
He. 4.11; Mt. 7.13,14; Mt. 11.12; Jn. 6.27; 2 Pe. 1.10,11; 1 Co. 9.24-25
He. 4.10; Isa. 60.19

Daily Light - Evening
Thou hearest me always.

Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. - Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. - Lo, I come...to do thy will, O God. -  Not my will, but thine, be done.

As he is, so are we in this world. -  This is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us.

Whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

Without faith it is iimpossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarider of them that diligently seek him.

He ever liveth to make iintercession for them. -  We have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
Jn. 11.42; Jn. 11.41; Jn. 12.28; He. 10.7; Lu. 22.42
1 Jn. 4.17; 1 Jn. 5.14
1 Jn. 3.22
He. 11.6
He. 7.25; 1 Jn. 2.1

PARAGRAPH 8

To all those for whom Christ has obtained eternal redemption, He does certainly and effectually apply and communicate the same, making intercession for them;38 uniting them to Himself by His Spirit, revealing to them, in and by His Word, the mystery of salvation, persuading them to believe and obey,39 governing their hearts by His Word and Spirit,40 and overcoming all their enemies by His almighty power and wisdom,41 in such manner and ways as are most consonant to His wonderful and unsearchable dispensation; and all of free and absolute grace, without any condition foreseen in them to procure it.42
38 John 6:37, 10:15–16, 17:9; Rom. 5:10
39 John 17:6; Eph. 1:9; 1 John 5:20

Robert Murray M'Cheyne - God Makes A Path - Daily Devotional Readings
Touched
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. -  Hebrews 4 v 15

We have a merciful and faithful High Priest. He suffered being tempted, just that He might succour them that are tempted. The high priest of old not only offered sacrifice at the altar, - his work was not done when the lamb was consumed. He was to be a father to Israel. He carried all their names graven over his heart, -  he went in and prayed for them within the veil. He came out and blessed the people, saying, 'The Lord bless thee and keep thee: The Lord make His face to shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.'
So it is with the Lord Jesus. His work was not all done in Calvary. He that died for our sins lives to pray for us, -  to help in every time of need. He is still man on the right hand of God, and therefore, by reason of His divinity, is present here this day as much as any of us. He knows your every sorrow, trial, difficulty; every half-hearted sigh He hears, and brings in notice thereof to His human heart at the right hand of God. His human heart is the same yesterday, to-day, and for ever; it pleads for you, thinks  on you, plans deliverance for you.
Dear tempted brethren! Go boldly to the throne of Grace, to obtain mercy and find grace to help you in your time of need.
