Daily Reading Plan - Second Year
Preface - Jeremiah exhorting the people with severe threats to repentance s apprehended, and indicated before the princes for so dong: his apology: he is acquitted by the example of Micah and Urijah, and the assistance of Ahikam.
Jeremiah 26
Pre
face - In the parable of the vineyard let out to wicked husbandmen Christ foretelleth the reprobation of the Jews, and the calling of the Gentles: his reply to the insidious question concerning paying tribute to Caesar: he refuteth conclusively the Sadducees who questioned him concerning the resurrection: he sheweth which are the two great commandments of the law: he proposeth a difficulty to the scribes concerning the character of Christ: he cautioneth the people against their ambition and hypocrisy: and valueth the poor widow's two mites above all the gifts of the rich.
Mark 12

Daily Light - Morning
Seek those things which are above,
where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

Get wisdom, get understanding. - The wisdom that is from above. - The depth saith, It is not in me: and the sea saith, It is not with me. - We are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.

Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. - But God...hath quickened us together with Christ....and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

They that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. - Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness.
Col. 3.1; pro. 4.5; Jas. 3.17; Job 28.14; Ro. 6.4-5
He. 12.1; Eph. 2.4,5,6
He. 11.14; ZSeph. 2.3

Daily Light - Evening
Nicodemus...
(he that came to Jesus by night).

Peter followed him afar off. - Among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. - The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. - A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench. - Faith as a grain of mustard seed.

God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord. - Little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. - Whosoever....shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
Jn. 7.50; Mt. 26.58; Jn. 12.42-43; Pro. 29.25
Jn. 6.37; Isa. 42.3; Mt. 17.20
2 Tim. 1.7-8; 1 Jn. 2.28; Mt. 10.32

A Puritans Catechism
Q  13 - Did our fist parents continue in the estate wherein they were created?

A - Our first parents, being left to the freedom of their own will, fell from that initial state wherein they were created, by sinning against God, by eating the forbidden fruit.

The 1689

Of Christ the Mediator
Chapter 8

PARAGRAPH 8

43 1 Tim. 2:5

Robert Murray M'Cheyne - God Makes A Path - Daily Devotional Readings
An abundant entrance
He that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
Galatians 6 v 8

The whole Bible shows that Christians will be rewarded in eternity just in proportion to the way they have made use of their talents. now, money is one talent. If you use it right, you will in no wise lose your reward. They that have done much for Christ shall have an abundant entrance; they that have done little shall have little reward.
