Daily Prayer Thursday
Thursday - Give thanks to God for the Bible, its inspiration and preservation for us to read it today. (2 Timothy 3.16, Proverbs 30.5.) - Give thanks to God that we have easy access to Scripture in English, in our mother tongue. Pray for those without access to the Bible because it is forbidden or not available. - Pray the Lord would bless us as we study the Bible through the ministry this coming year. That as we work through a book of the Bible, that the Lord would continue to help us to grasp God's truth. - Pray for the lunchtime outreach service and those who attend; pray that more from the offices nearby and Christians who commute are able to join us. Daily Reading Plan - Second Year Preface - The prophet bewaileth his own calamities: he acknowledgeth God's mercies and truth to be a proper ground of patient hope: he maketh humble confession of the sins which had drawn down God's severe judgments: he prayeth to be avenged of his enemies. Lamations 3 Preface - David praiseth God, and exhorteth others thereto from his own experience. They are blessed that trust in God. An exhortation to the fear of God. The privileges of the righteous. Psalm 34 Daily Light - Morning Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. By the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer. Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not. - When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee. For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life. - Thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left. I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. - We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place. - Now we see though a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. - They need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. This is not your rest....it is polluted, it shall destroy you. - Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. - If riches increase, set not your heart upon them. - Set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise therefore. Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. - Take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. - Yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. - Now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. - Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. A - Christ's exaltation consists in his rising again from the dead on the third day, in ascending up into heaven, in sitting at the right hand of God the Father, and in coming to judge the world at the last day. The 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith Of Justification Chapter 11 PARAGRAPH 3 Christ, by his obedience and death, did fully discharge the debt of all those who are justified; and did, by the sacrifice of himself in the blood of his cross, undergoing in their stead the penalty due to them, make a proper, real, and full satisfaction to God’s justice in their behalf; (8) yet, in as much as he was given by the Father for them, and his obedience and satisfaction accepted in their stead, and both freely, not for anything in them, (9) their justification is only of free grace, that both the exact justice and rich grace of God might be glorified in the justification of sinners.
