Daily Reading Plan - Second Year
Preface - From chapter ten to the twenty-fifth are various observations of moral virtues and their contrary vices.
Proverbs 13
Preface - The Corinthians are reproved for bringing their controversies before heathen judges, which they ought to decide among themselves. There would be no occasion for lawsuits, if men acted up to the principles of the gospel, which exclude from the kingdom of God all notorious transgressors of the moral law. All lawful things are not expedient; but fornication is a gross offence against our bodies, which are members of Christ, temples of the Holy Ghost, and not our own to dispose of otherwise than to God's glory.
Ephesians 6

Daily Light - Morning
The kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into
a far country, who called his own servants,
and delivered unto them his goods...
to every man according to his several ability.

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey...?

Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal... But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. - As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. - It is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. - Unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

Who is sufficient for these things? - I can do all thing through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Mt. 25.14,15; Ro. 6.16
1 Co. 12.4-7,11; 1 Pe. 4.10; 1 Co. 4.2; Lu. 12.48
2 Co. 2.16; Phil. 4.13

Daily Light - Evening
Distributing to the necessity of saints.

David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan's sake?

Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.... Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. - Whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

To do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. - God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
Ro. 12.13; 2 Sa. 9.1
Mt. 25.34-36,40; Mt. 10.42
He. 13.16; He 6.10

PARAGRAPH 4

The authority of the Holy Scripture, for which it ought to be believed, depends not upon the testimony of any man or church, but wholly upon God (who is truth itself), the author thereof; therefore it is to be received because it is the Word of God.  (7)
7) 2 Pet. 1. 19,20,21. 2 Tim. 3. 16.2 Thes. 2. 13. 1 Job. 5.9.

Robert Murray M'Cheyne - God Makes A Path - Daily Devotional Readings
At the heart's door
I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh ...
Song of Solomon 5 v 2

Even believers have got doors upon their hearts. You would think, perhaps, that when once Christ has found an entrance into a poor sinner's heart, He would never find difficulty in getting in any more. You would think that as Samson carried off the gates of Gaza, bar and all, so Christ would carry away all the gates and bars from believing hearts; but no, there is still a door on the heart, and Christ stands and knocks. He would fain be in. It is not His pleasure that we should sit lonely and desolate. He would fain come into us, and sup with us, and we with him.
