Daily Reading Plan - First Year
Preface - Moses keepeth Jethro's flock: God appeareth to him in a burning bush: He sendeth him to deliver Israel. Moses enquireth, and is told the name of God. God's message to Israel, and to the king of Egypt. Pharaoh's obstinacy foretold, and its consequences.
Exodus 3
Preface - Christ alleged scripture in defence of his disciples' plucking the ears of corn on the sabbath day: he appealeth to reason, and healeth the withered hand on the sabbath. He spendeth the night in prayer, and chooseth the twelve apostles: he healeth various diseased people: pronounceth blessings and woes: teacheth to return good for evil, and other lessons of moral duty: and admonisheth to be his disciples in practice, and not in profession only.
Luke 6

Daily Light - Morning
He shall see of the travail of his soul,
and shall be satisfied.

Jesus....said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. - He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; tat we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise. - To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, according to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord. - That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

After that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. - Ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.
Isa. 53.11; Jn. 19.30; 2 Co. 5.21
Isa. 43.21; Eph. 3.10-11; Eph. 2.7
Eph. 1.13-14; 1 Pe. 2.9

Daily Light - Evening
The day of temptation in the wilderness.

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: but every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin.

They....lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.

Jesus being full o fthe Holy Ghost....was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.

In that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted. - Semon, Simon....Satan hath desire to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: but I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not.
He. 3.8; Jas. 1.13-15
Ps. 106.13,14
Lu. 4.1-3
He. 2.18; Lu. 22.31-32

Robert Murray M'Cheyne - God Makes A Path - Daily Devotional Readings
The touch that heals
And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand and touched him ...
Mark 1 v 41

When the woman had spent her all upon physicians, and was nothing better, but rather worse, she heard of Jesus. Ah! said she, if I may but 'touch the hem of his garment I shall be made whole.' Jesus said to her. 'Daughter, be of good comfort, thy faith hath made thee whole.' Come, then, incurable, to Christ. Leprosy was always regarded as incurable. Accordingly, the leper came to Jesus, and worshipping, said, 'Lord if thou wilt thou canst make me clean.' Jesus said, 'I will, be thou clean.' And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. Some of you feel that your heart is desperately wicked: well, kneel to the Lord Jesus, and say: 'Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.' You are a leper - incurable; Jesus is able - He is also willing to make you clean.
