Daily Prayer - Monday
Monday
Give thanks to God for salvation and the redemption that is found alone in Jesus Christ.
Give thanks to God for granting us particular skills and abilities that we might fulfil our vocations (jobs, studies, family responsibilities and time we spend alone). (Ecclesiastes 9.10, Ephesians 6.6)
Pray for the Lord’s blessing on the working week for us and all in the congregation.
Pray the Lord would grant us grace to be good ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5.20)

Daily Light - Morning
As many as I love,
I rebuke and chasten.

My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: for whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receivith. - Even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. - He maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole. - Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. - I have chosen thee in the furnace of afflictiion.

He doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men. - He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.
Rev. 3.19; He. 12.5-6; Pro. 3.12; Job 5.18; 1 Pe. 5.6; Isa. 48.10
Lam. 3.33; Ps. 103.10-14

Daily Light - Evening
God is in heaven, and thou upon earth:
therefore let thy words be few.

When ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

They....called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us.

Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.... And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other.

Lor teach us to pray.
Ex. 5.2; Mt. 6.7-8
1 Ki. 18.26
Lu. 18.10-11,13-14
Lu. 11.1

A Puritans Catechism

Q 68 - How may we may escape his wrath and curse due to us for sin?
A - To escape the wrath and curse of God due to us for sin, we must believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, trusting alone to his blood and righteousness. This faith is attended by repentance for the past and leads to holiness in the future.

Of Religious Worship and the Sabbath Day
Chapter 22
PARAGRAPH 8

The sabbath is then kept holy unto the Lord, when men, after a due preparing of their hearts, and ordering their common affairs aforhand, do not only observe a holy rest all day, from their own works, words and thoughts, about their worldly employment and recreations,  (30)  but are also taken up the whole time in the public and private exercises of his worship, and in the duties of necessity and mercy.  (31)
(30)-Isa. 58.13; Neh. 13.15-22  (31)-Matt. 12.1-13

Robert Murray M'Cheyne - God Makes A Path - Daily Devotional Readings
Where is your faith?
And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?
Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
Matthew 8 v 26

One evening Christ gave commandment on the Sea of Galilee to depart to 'the other side'; and as they sailed He fell asleep. Here was a simple word of promise to hold by in the storm. But when the storm came down, and the waves covered the ship, they cried, 'Master, save us; we perish.' And He said: 'Where is your faith?' By that trial the faith of the disciples was greatly increased ever after. So it is with all trials of faith. When God gives a promise, He always tries our faith, just as the roots of trees take firmer hold when they are contending with the wind, so faith takes a firmer hold when it struggles with adverse appearances.
