Daily Prayer - Friday
- Give thanks to God for many good things we enjoy and daily blessings. - Pray the Lord would supply the needs of those in the congregation at Westminster and guide us as we help those destitute and suffering. Especially those we have met in the pandemic. (Numbers 6.24-26.) - Pray for the ministry among the children and that they would know Christ from a young age. A rich blessing in this troubled world. - Pray for the evangelistic work, that people would know the greatest blessing of all salvation by the grace of God through Christ. Hosea 14 Preface - David acknowledgeth God's all-seeing providence: he praiseth him for the wonders of his formation; and for his infinite mercies: his confidence in the destruction of the wicked: his professed hatred of them: he prayeth for God's inspection and guidance. Psalms 139 Daily Light - Morning Let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. Gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. - Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness... Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it. And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 1 Th. 5.8; 1 Pe. 1.13; Eph. 6.14,16-17 Isa. 25.8-9 He. 11.1 Daily Light - Evening The children of Israel pitched before them like two little flocks of kids; but the Syrians filled the country. Thus saith the LORD, because the Syrians have said, the LORD is God of the hills, but he is not God of the valleys, therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I am the LORD. And they pitched one over against the other seven days. And so it was, that in the seventh day the battle was joined: and the children of Israel slew of the Syrians an hundred thousand footmen in one day. - Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. THey shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee. 1 Ki. 20.27; 1 Ki. 20.28-29; 1 Jn. 4.4 Isa. 41.10 Jer. 1.19 A Puritans Catechism Q 80 - What is the Lord's Supper? A - The Lord's Supper is an ordinance of the New Testament, instituted by Jesus Christ; wherein, by giving and receiving bread and wine, according to his appointment, his death is shown forth; and the worthy receivers are, not after a corporeal and carnal manner, but by faith, made partakers o fhis body and blood, with all his benefits, to their spiritual nourishment, and growth in grace. The 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith Of Christ the Mediator Chapter 8 PARAGRAPH 8 To all those for whom Christ has obtained eternal redemption, He does certainly and effectually apply and communicate the same, making intercession for them;38 uniting them to Himself by His Spirit, revealing to them, in and by His Word, the mystery of salvation, persuading them to believe and obey,39 governing their hearts by His Word and Spirit,40 and overcoming all their enemies by His almighty power and wisdom,41 in such manner and ways as are most consonant to His wonderful and unsearchable dispensation; and all of free and absolute grace, without any condition foreseen in them to procure it.42 38 John 6:37, 10:15–16, 17:9; Rom. 5:10 39 John 17:6; Eph. 1:9; 1 John 5:20 40 Rom. 8:9,14 41 Ps. 110:1; 1 Cor. 15:25–26 42 John 3:8; Eph. 1:8 Robert Murray M'Cheyne - God Makes A Path - Dialy Devotional Readings Only believe And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8 v 28 You remember Jacob said, when they wanted to take Benjamin away from him, 'All these things are against me.' But in a little while he saw that 'all these things were working together for good to him.' In a little while all his lost children were restored to him, and he and his seed preserved from famine. So will it be with you. If at any time unbelief steals over your heart - if you lose sight of Jesus, our Passover sacrificed for us - if you forget the hand of the all-tender gracious Father of Jesus and of your soul - you will be crying out, all these things are against me. But ah! how soon you will find that everything in your history, except sin, has been for you. Every wave of trouble has been wafting you to the sunny shores of a sinless eternity. Only believe. Give unlimited credit to our God.
