Daily Prayer - Friday
Friday - Give thanks to God for many good things we enjoy and daily blessings. - Pray the Lord would supply the needs of those in the congregation at Westminster and guide us as we help those destitute and suffering. Especially those we have met in the pandemic. (Numbers 6.24-26.) - Pray for the ministry among the children and that they would know Christ from a young age. A rich blessing in this troubled world. - Pray for the evangelistic work, that people would know the greatest blessing of all salvation by the grace of God through Christ. Daily Reading Plan - First Year Preface - Elimelech driven by famine into Moab dieth there, as do also his sons Mahlon and Chilion, who had married Moabitish wives. Naomi the wife of Elimelech prepareth to return, but dissuadeth her daughters in law from going with her; of whom Orpah leaveth her, but Ruth with great constancy accompanieth her. They two come to Bethlehem, where the inhabitants flock around with enquiries concerning them. Ruth 1 Preface - Paul in the presence of Agrippa declareth his life from his childhood, his wonderful conversion, and call to the apostleship, and his preaching of Christ according to the scripture doctrine. Festus chargeth him with madness; his modest reply, and address to Agrippa, who confesseth himself almost a Christian. The whole company pronounce him innocent. Acts 26 Daily Light - Morning The path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. - Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. - We all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. - When that which is in part shall be done away.... For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. - Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. Pro. 4.18; Phil. 3.12; Hos. 6.3 Mt. 13.43; 2 Co. 3.18; 1 Co. 13.10,12; 1 Jn. 3.2-3 Daily Light - Evening Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. - Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise, - What will ye that I shall do unto you? They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened. So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him. If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? - I will put my spirit within you.... Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will yet for this be enquired of. This is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: and if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. ro. 10.13; Jn. 6.37; Lu. 23.42-43; Mt.20.32-34 Lu. 11.13; Ezek. 36.27,37 1 Jn. 5.14-15 A Puritans Catechism Q 17 - Wherein consists the sinfulness of that state whereinto man fell? A - The sinfulness of that state whereinto man fell consists in the guilt of Adam's first sin, the want of original righteousness, and the corruption of his whole nature, which is commonly called original sin, together with all actual transgressions which proceed from it. The 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith Of the Holy Scriptures. Chapter 1 PARAGRAPH 8 The Old Testament in Hebrew (which was the native language of the people of God of old), 14 and the New Testament in Greek (which at the time of the writing of it was most generally known to the nations), being immediately inspired by God, and by His singular care and providence kept pure in all ages, are therefore authentic; so as in all controversies of religion, the church is finally to appeal to them. 15 But because these original tongues are not known to all the people of God, who have a right unto, and interest in the Scriptures, and are commanded in the fear of God to read, 16 and search them, 17 therefore they are to be translated into the vulgar language of every nation unto which they come, 18 that the Word of God dwelling plentifully in all, they may worship Him in an acceptable manner, and through patience and comfort of the Scriptures may have hope. 19 14 Rom. 3:2 15 Isa. 8:20 16 Acts 15:15 17 John 5:39 18 1 Cor. 14:6,9,11-12,24,28 19 Col. 3:16 Robert Murray M'Cheyne - God Makes A Path - Daily Devotional Readings When weakness is strength Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. 2 Corinthians 12 v 10 When the believer is weakest, then is he strongest. The child that knows most its utter feebleness, entrusts itself most completely into the mother's arms. The young eagle that knows, by many a fall, its own inability to fly, yields itself to be carried on the mother's mighty wing. When it is weak, then it is strong; and just so the believer when he has found out, by repeated falls, his own utter feebleness, clings, with simplest faith, to the arm of the Saviour and leans on his Beloved, coming up out of the wilderness, and hears with joy the words: 'My grace is sufficient for thee; my strength is made perfect in weakness.'
